Sertac Karaman

Speaker Bio

Sertac Karaman is the Class of '48 Career Development Chair Associate Professor of Aeronautics and Astronautics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Sertac is a member of the Laboratory for Information and Decision Systems and the director of the Foundations of Autonomous Systems Technology Group at MIT. He obtained an S.M. in mechanical engineering in 2009 and a Ph.D. in electrical engineering and computer science in 2012, both from MIT. His research interests lie in the broad area of embedded systems and mobile robotics. His recent research has focused on developing planning and control algorithms for autonomous vehicles and autonomy-enabled transportation systems. More broadly, Sertac has worked on driverless cars, unmanned aerial vehicles, distributed aerial surveillance systems, air traffic control algorithms, certification and verification of control systems software, and many others.
